Best Duet Karaoke Songs You’ll Love

Let’s begin with a song by the B-52’s.

Love Shack by B-52’s (1989)

This one is definitely one of the best karaoke songs out there! I can say this from personal experience because it’s one that I had on my own karaoke machine growing up. It’s usually arranged as a duet with a catchy, upbeat tune that’s easy to follow along to and fun to sing with a partner.

It really is the kind of song you can just playfully sing along to or even just shout. It’s pretty repetitive with easy lyrics that you’ll be able to have fun with.

The Love Shack is a little old place where we can get together
Love Shack, baby (a-Love Shack, baby)

Shallow from A Star is Born (2018)

Shallow is an iconic song from the popular movie A Star is Born with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. And because of that, it’s certainly become one of the best karaoke songs for couples out there.  This song in particular is just so heartfelt and has so much emotion behind it. It’s one you can sing just for fun, but it’s also great for some good old catharsis when you need it.

I’m off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I’ll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface where they can’t hurt us
We’re far from the shallow now

The tune isn’t too hard to follow for a beginner, but there are also some good belt notes for when you really want to challenge yourself.

Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey – Glee Cast Version (2009)

This song is just so timeless – it really is one that pretty much everyone has heard at least once! But the Glee version re-popularized the song for modern audiences! Anyone who doesn’t know the original version of the song at least knows the one from the TV series. You might even know the lyrics already without realizing!

Just a small town girl, livin’ in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin’ anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train goin’ anywhere

I think this song got a lot of younger people interested in the original band, Journey, and their music. Not only is it a wonderfully catchy song, but it also just works really well as a duet – especially with a combination of male and female voices. Definitely try this one out with friends!

Senorita by Shawn Mendes & Camilla Cabello (2019)

Senorita has been played over and over again on the radio, in shopping malls…everywhere! I bet you’ve heard it without even knowing it. It’s infectiously catchy and a great duet. If you hear it just once, it’ll easily be stuck in your head forever!

While there are a few harmonies, it isn’t too hard to sing. Plus, it’s a great love song to sing on a karaoke date! Just look at the lyrics.

I love it when you call me señorita
I wish I could pretend I didn’t need ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la-la
It’s true, la-la-la
Ooh, I should be runnin’
Ooh, you keep me coming for ya

A really great one to sing with a partner – as long as your prepared to have the song repeating in your head for weeks on end!

Under Pressure by David Bowie & Queen (1981)

Instantly recognizable by the first few notes of the song, Under Pressure is another timeless one. I remember listening to this all the time growing up – and I still listen to it now! It’s also a really fun one to sing on karaoke. The duet originally features two male voices, but I think anyone can have fun with this and sing along!

While it is catchy, it’s also a pretty deep song that talks about dealing with the pressure and struggles you have to face in life.

Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you, no man ask for
Under pressure that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets

You’re The One That I Want from Grease (1978)

This is definitely one of the most well-known duets from the musical Grease. It’s just super fun to listen to and sing, and you’ll probably find yourself wanting to dance along, too! It has a really catchy chorus, and the whole song is one that beginners and experienced karaoke-hobbyists alike can enjoy.

I got chills, they’re multiplying
And I’m losing control
Cause the power, you’re supplying
It’s electrifying!

Check it out if you aren’t already familiar with the song!

Just Give Me a Reason by Pink (2013)

This one is a really honest breakup song that’s truly heartbreaking. It tells two different perspectives on the same relationship, and really paints a clear picture in your mind of the story of their relationship. But it’s also just so beautiful, and works so wonderfully as a duet. It’s one that has been popular since the moment it was released.

You can really enjoy singing this song with your karaoke partner – there are some great belt notes to have fun with, too!

I’ve Had the Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing (1987)

Another one from an iconic movie, I’ve Had the Time of My Life is a song that everyone knows, whether they’re aware of it or not. There aren’t too many lyrics, so it’s easy to follow along if you don’t feel like you’re that familiar with it.

Now I’ve had the time of my life
No, I never felt like this before
Yes, I swear it’s the truth
And I owe it all to you

A great, fun duet with a funky beat. You’ll probably want to dance along to it too! Oh, and definitely check out the movie while you’re at it – it was one of my favorites growing up.

Rewrite the Stars from The Greatest Showman (2017)

Rewrite the Stars is from a more recent musical: The Greatest Showman. The song gives two different perspectives that pretty much directly oppose each other. From one point of view, we have the hopeful:

What if we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine
Nothing could keep us apart
You’d be the one I was meant to find
It’s up to you, and it’s up to me
No one can say what we get to be
So why don’t we rewrite the stars?
Maybe the world could be ours
Tonight

And on the other hand, we have the more pessimistic:

No one can rewrite the stars
How can you say you’ll be mine?
Everything keeps us apart
And I’m not the one you were meant to find
It’s not up to you, it’s not up to me
When everyone tells us what we can be
How can we rewrite the stars?
Say that the world can be ours
Tonight

It’s just so beautifully mesmerizing – Zendaya and Zac Efron’s voices blend together so well together. Singing it, it’ll probably make you tear up, just like I did when I first watched the movie. This is a fun one to sing, even though it’s sort of heartbreaking. It really gives you a chance to let out any of your pent-up emotions!

I Got You Babe by Sonny & Cher (1965)

Here’s a fun one! Maybe not one for the younger generation, but I would argue that this one is sort of timeless. It’s catchy, but also pretty easy to follow along to since there aren’t too many lyrics. The chorus is catchy and repetitive, which really works in your favor during karaoke!

Everything Has Changed by Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran (2013)

I remember looping this all the time when I was in high school. I always thought it was such a beautiful duet – one that I always wanted to sing myself. It has such romantic lyrics and an easy-to-follow tune. That’s what makes it a perfect song for karaoke.

‘Cause all I know is we said, “Hello”
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name
Everything has changed

It’s really a sweet love song with a lot of great harmonies, and so many opportunities to really let your karaoke skills shine. Recently, Taylor Swift re-released Taylor’s Version of the song.

Seventeen from Heathers (2014)

This is a pretty dark one from the musical Heathers. It is kind of depressing in the context of the musical, but it’s one that I think that many teenagers and adults alike can relate to at a surface level. Just looking at the lyrics, it’s about wanting to feel normal, and wishing to experience a normal teenage life.

Can’t we be seventeen
Is that so hard to do?
If you could let me in
I could be good with you
Let us be seventeen
If we still got the right

It also just sounds really beautiful, making it a fun one to try out on your next karaoke adventure.

Loyalty by Kendrick Lamar & Rihanna (2017)

This is the wild card! Loyalty is a rap, but one that is great as a duet. It’s a song that you can try out (and maybe fail at) with your karaoke partner! It’s really catchy, kind of dark – but it’s definitely worth the attempt, even if it’s just for fun. The lyrics aren’t too hard to follow either.

Loyalty, loyalty, loyalty
Loyalty, loyalty, loyalty
10-4, no switchin’ sides
Feel somethin’ wrong
You actin’ shifty, you don’t vibe

Even if you can’t quite manage to get the rap down, you can at least appreciate the wonderful duet and maybe laugh at yourself in the meantime! Karaoke is all about having fun and trying new things, so why not?

Conclusion

It’s funny how many of the best duet karaoke songs come from movies or musicals – but you can also find them rap music music and of course pop. Thankfully, there’s an ideal a karaoke duet out there for everyone, whatever your music taste is! Karaoke is supposed to be fun, so you might as well choose the kind of song you enjoy the most, even if that ends up being a complicated rap verse!
