These 90s Female Singers Were Smoking Hot

Here are the hottest female singers of the 90s

Who were the hottest female singers of the 1990s?  Well, there are so many ladies to choose from, it’s hard to make a thorough list.  But that exactly what I’m going to do today.  So sit back, relax, and remember the good ol’ days where the female singers on this list were hands down the most attractive and talented artists in music.

10 Hottest Female Singers from the 90s

10. Chilli from TLC

Chilli from TLC was sexy

It’s way too easy to begin this list with a name you’d expect, like Beyonce.  Instead, it’s much more appropriate that Chilli from TLC make this list.  After all, Chilli was the “Sexy” in TLC’s “Crazy Sexy Cool” album title, right?

Chilli was beautiful in the 1990s (and is beautiful now, actually).  She had a sweet, alluring voice.  But I liked that Chilli always had a bit of an edge to her.  Chilli wasn’t as edgy as T-Boz or Left Eye, but she had a savvy aura to her that made her appealing beyond just a beauty aesthetic.

Chilli is now dating Matthew Lawrence (another star from the 1990s).

9. Shania Twain

Shania Twain was smoking hot in the 90s

Everybody was obsessed with the “Man I Feel Like a Woman” music video in 1999.  It was a modern classic at the time, and it was impossible to escape this video when it aired on MTV and VH1.

But part of the appeal of that music video was Shania Twain herself.  In a nutshell, Shania Twain was very sexy.  And it’s not over the top to say that this video catapulted her into a new level of popularity (and obsession) amongst male fans.

8. Toni Braxton

Toni Braxton's short haircut was sexy

Toni Braxton was dripping in sex appeal in the 1990s.  In fact, Toni Braxton was so hot in the 90s, she (along with Halle Berry) made short haircuts on women en vogue.

As if Toni’s beautiful face wasn’t enough, Braxton naturally has a sultry singing voice too.  Toni’s voice upped her sex appeal even more.  I’d argue Toni’s voice is so amazing and unique, she really can’t sing a song and not have it sound sensual.

7. Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill's beauty was underrated

Lauryn Hill’s hotness is quite unique.  On one hand, Lauryn is naturally beautiful and an immensely talented singer.  She can also rap with the best men and women in hip hop too.

That duality gives Lauryn a special kind of sex appeal.  She can be soft and demure and overall very feminine.  And she can also lean into more of a hard, tomboy-like edge as well.  In the 1990s, this really gave Lauryn a universal appeal that made her hot to both men and women.

6. Faith Evans

Faith Evans was an attractive female singer in the 1990s

While many would put Faith Hill here, I want to go a different “Faith” based route.  Faith Evans brought a level of allure and sophistication to R&B music in the 90s, and her ability to crossover into hip hop features made her a hot female singer.

But more than that, Faith Evans could sing and harmonize really well.  She’s also responsible for creating some of the best choruses in the 1990s (like “I’ll Be Missing You” and “Love Like This”).

Between that, and Faith’ connection to Biggie Smalls, you can’t write the history of 1990s music without Evans.  And that’s sexy.

5. Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey was one of the hottest 1990s female singers

It can be argued that Mariah Carey was the hottest female singer of the 90s.  What’s funny about that statement, however, is that Mariah didn’t show a tremendous amount of her body compared to her 90s contemporaries.

I think Mariah’s relative modesty helps push the case for her sex appeal in the 1990s.  While Mariah did show off her midriff constantly (see Mariah’s “Heartbreaker” tanktop CD single cover), Carey’s overt sexuality pales in comparison to pop stars like Janet Jackson and Madonna.

4. Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson was one of the sexiest 90s singers

Janet Jackson was smoking hot back in the 1990s.  That’s just the bottom line.  While Janet showed lots of cleavage (check out the “I Get So Lonely” music video), and had a lot of sexual innuendo in her music (listen to “Go Deep”), her music stayed consistently excellent all throughout the 90s and into the early 2000s with “All For You.”

Janet Jackson was a dance pioneer, as well.  Learning lots of moves from the great Paula Abdul, Janet’s sexiest moments often came live on stage.  No, I’m not talking about the Super Bowl Halftime Show.  I’m talking about Janet’s on-stage lap dances she would give to male guests on “The Velvet Rope” tour.

On top of that, Janet Jackson’s Rolling Stone cover, where she posed topless, cemented her sex appeal.

3. Madonna

Madonna was one of the hottest 90s pop singers

You can’t talk about sexy female singers and leave Madonna’s name off the list.  You just can’t.

Madonna is easily one of the hottest music artists to ever make music in the 1990s.  Madonna oozed sex appeal and sensuality in everything she did. Whether it was Madonna’s album entitled “Erotica,” her role as Breathless Mahoney in the movie “Dick Tracy,” or even her 1992 Sex book, Madonna and the word “hot” were inextricably linked in the 90s.

2. Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani was a beautiful rock singer in the 1990s

Gwen Stefani was one of those “sexy cool” girls that every man loved in the 1990s.  Gwen sometimes gave off tomboy vibes, giving you the impression that she would be a fun chick to hang out with on a weekend.  And then other times, Gwen was downright beautiful and sexy.

The strong parasocial relationship fans had with Gwen was rooted in her unique visual appeal.  Stefani was chill and fun and talented and sexy.  She could rock out with the best rockers in the 1990s, but still managed to be soft and feminine.  Similar to Lauryn Hill, I think Gwen Stefani’s sex appeal was able to cross various mainstream lines.

1. Sade

Sade was a sexy music artist in the 1990s

Sade’s sexiness was rooted in her mysterious allure.  Sade never over-sexualized herself, leaving everything open to fans’ imagination.  While artists like Madonna and Janet Jackson were never shy about taking off their clothes, Sade took the more modest approach.

And that, coupled with Sade’s sexy voice and smooth music, made her one of the hottest female singers from the 90s.
